Guinea used to be named French Guinea.This is because it was orgininally a French colony since 1891. It stayed this way until 1958 when the people voted against colonists on their land, and declared themselves an independent country.(Read more on history site).
A new species of tree,Talbotiella Cheekii, was found in Guinea in 2017 by Guinean botanist, Martin Creek. It can be up to 78 ft in height and 83 cm in width. It grows in small areas near waters and hills. It grows beautiful red and white flowers for a short period during the month of April.
Guinea is known for its large possesion of natrual resources. Among these are Gold, Iron Ore, Uranium,and Diamonds. It also holds the third largest deposit of Bauxite, which is used to make aluminum metal and sometimes used in chemicals, in the world.
